Rugby
Rugby is a traditional sport at Darfield High School and allows our students to challenge themselves against other students from all over the South Island. We have combined teams at Year 7-8, Years 9-10, an Under 15 team and our premier team- Boys 1st XV Rugby Team. Each respective team has organised trainings and competes in an official competition which usually involves fixtures on a Wednesday or Thursday. Going forward we would like to continue to grow our participation numbers in rugby and also increase the strength of our teams in each respective grade through better administration, coaching and leadership.

Signup: Already completed for 2017!
Training Starts: Wednesday Feb 8 th (Week 2) Beginning at 2pm in Gym 1 – Training will start. Running shoes and Mouth Guard required. Boots will needed from Week 6 onwards.
Ordering of team training shirts: Orders will be taken at our Signup meeting – these tee shirts will cost $45 and this money will need to be paid to the school office by the end of Week two.

- Wednesday April 12, Preseason Match v. Middleton Grange @ Darfield HS. KO 3pm.
- Start of Term 2, Brockbank Graves Trophy
- Wednesday 17 May, College Day @ Hagley Park
- End of Term 2, Plains Sec Schools Tournament
- End of Term 2 (Week 9), Southern Tour
U15 & Year 9 and 10
Signup: Term 2, Monday June 19th at the start of Lunch in G3 - Notices will be given out with a calendar of training and fixture dates.
Training Starts: Term 3, Monday July 24th, beginning at the start of lunch (1.25pm). Meet outside G3 – Training will start promptly.

- Monday August 28th - Wednesday August 30th, Tournament in Greymouth (U15 Team).
- Wednesday May 17th, Canterbury Secondary Schools Competition begins. KO 3pm. Draw to be confirmed on May 10th (Year 9 and 10 Team).
